NSS Organise In-Service Orientation for National Service Personnel

The Northern Regional Directorate of National Service Scheme has organized an in-service orientation for national service personnel within the Tamale Metropolis.

The programme which converged over a thousand national service personnel at the premises of the Tamale Cultural Centre is, among other things, to sensitize the national service personnel on national service-related issues and providing them with useful information.

The event commenced with a presentation from Equip Hub, a partner non-governmental organization that provides capacity building for personnel in the areas of entrepreneurship and skill-building.

Mr Esmond Quansah, the Hub Manager advised that personnel take advantage of the opportunity since it is free and there are high chances of their business ideas being funded after the incubation programme.

Rev. George Gado, the Northern Regional Director of NSS, in his welcome address directed them to log onto their dashboards, download, fill and submit their appointment on time to ensure that they are processed and paid on time.

Addressing the gathering on behalf of the Executive Director, the Director of Corporate Affairs of NSS, Mr Armstrong Esaah shared some of the operational innovations like paperless registration, certificate delivery and NSS Market Place among others that the Hon. Mustapha led administration has put in place to make life comfortable for the service personnel.

He further challenged personnel to use the service period to develop their corporate beings so that they can be useful to themselves and country.

“The Scheme is on the lookout to rewarding hardworking and thus have initiated the Global Practice Initiative to allow complete their national service abroad,” he added.

Taking his turn to speak, the Mayor of

Tamale, Iddrisu Musah Superior, congratulated the personnel for taking up the mantle of service in the face of persisting circumstances.

“When you find yourselves at the various user agencies, actively seek for work to do instead of being idle. Engage your superiors and find areas you can be of help. Learn to be disciplined, stay focused and make yourself useful to your country” he reiterated.

The programme ended with an open forum to allow the service personnel to ask pertinent questions related to their service and the Northern Regional Director and Corporate Affairs Director took turns to address.
