Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has organised an orientation programme for the pioneers of the KNUST Obuasi Campus for the 2019/2020 academic year earlier this week at the Sports Club House, Obuasi Campus.

The orientation programme was designed to equip all fresh students with the knowledge and information needed to help them get on well with academic and social life on campus.

Professor Richard A. Boamah, Dean of the KNUST Obuasi Campus, opening the orientation programme welcomed the fresh Undergraduate students. Prof. Boamah urged them to embrace the opportunity of being the first batch of students on the Obuasi Campus to attain their ambitions of acquiring better education for better life.

Taking turn to brief students on their obligation in School, the Registrar of the KNUST Obuasi Campus, Mr. Benjamin Oduah Andoh, gave a detailed presentation on the Rules and Regulations of the University, their mission on campus and what is expected of them. Mr. Andoh reminded the students that, their key objective is to study. He also advised the students to put up good behaviours in order to make the University and their parents proud.

Mr. Joseph Asamoah-Gyawu, a Counsellor at the KNUST Counseling Centre (KCC), took the freshers through the various counselling services provided by the KCC. Mr. Asamoah again, highlighted measures to ensure a balanced academic, religious and social life. He encouraged the students to always call on KCC for academic, emotional, neuropsychological and personality counselling.

Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, the University Relations Officer of KNUST, oriented the freshers on the usefulness and challenges of Social media. He admonished students to desist from posting things that put the University and themselves into disrepute.

The orientation programme saw students been enlightened on the University’s Assessment/Grading System, University Health Services, the Student Associations and Activities by experienced resource persons from the University.

In an interview, the students of the Obuasi Campus said the orientation has made them more comfortable in their new learning area. They promised to adhere to the rules and regulations of the University to make the Obuasi Campus an exceptional place of learning.
