The Ghana Education Service (GES) has described it as unfortunate a decision made by Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High School (CHASS), to postponed the reopening date of senior high schools.
Ges Calls on CHASS to Reconsider Decision to Postpond ReOpening Date for SHS
CHASS is said to have issued a statement asking for postponement of re-opening of schools with the explanation that monies for schools have not been released to them.
But the GES has described the decision made by CHASS as surprising.
In a statement issued on September,02,2019, signed by its Head of Public Relations Unit, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, the GES said an amount of sixty-nine thousand three hundred and ninety-four Ghana Cedis (GHC 69,394.00) has been released to all Senior High Schools.
Furthermore, the GES said the said amount was meant for the Form 3 students for the first semester of 2019/20 Academic Year and was released on August,26,2019.
”A copy of the letter releasing the money to the schools was also sent to the National President of CHASS” the GES said.
”Meanwhile, funds for students entering Form 1 this September, 2019 has been set aside and will disbursed to the schools as soon as Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is announced hopefully on Friday September,06,2019” the statement assured.
”Management of GES wishes to assure the general public that monies for Form 3 students to enable them start the next academic year have been released to all schools and that the schools remained opened for all Form 3 students to resume academic work as originally announced”
”CHASS is advised to use the appropriate procedures to seek answers to issues it might have and not resort to other channels” the GES concluded.
